ECHO CHAMBERS (LP)

“A truly sci-fi world… somewhere between Cabaret Voltaire, Boards of Canada and Pye Corner Audio”

– Hot Salvation

The second album of the Tube-inflected ‘Underground’ duology is darker, grittier and more experimental, inspired by the dark empty spaces between people and machinery.

  • Formats: cassette, download + streams

 GHOST STATION (LP)

“When you blend nutritious Vangelis synth, Robert Rich ambience, and cyberpunk elevator muzak, you get what William Gibson must have been shooting for when he wrote Neuromancer.”

– Vice Magazine (Au), Vol. 11 No. 10

A response to the daily commute on London Underground’s deep-level Central Line: escapist atmospheric soundtracks corroded by deafening metal machine sounds.

COMPILATIONS

MUSIC IS VAST: A TRIBUTE TO THE MUSIC AND LEGACY OF VANGELIS

“The most massive thing I’ve heard all year! Absolutely superb.”

– Colin Morrison, Castles in Space label

Castles in Space did a call-out for tracks for a tribute compilation of music inspired by the recently lost Vangelis, in aid of The Trussel Trust. And the final result is astonishing — it’s like Vangelis visited us all in our sleep. Honoured to have my track included.

DOHNAVÙR REMIX PROJECT

 “This is absolutely amazing!”

– Fra Brown, Dohnavùr/Werra Foxma label

The renowned electronic duo Dohnavùr did a call-out for remixes of their tracks from their first three LPs. The Dohnavùr Remix Project is a CD compilation included with issue 4 of the Werra Foxma label subscriber’s magazine. Fra from Dohnavùr was full of praise for my dark and dirty remix and the track was given a really positive review in the magazine.

DIARY OF A MADMAN

The Dark Outside did a call-out for one minute tracks for a pair of cassette compilation albums to raise money for the Ukraine Red Cross after the shocking Russian invasion of Ukraine in early 2022.

I imagined the track while driving home from the supermarket one dark night, sang it into an iPhone, and then created it electronically once home in just a few minutes. I have subsequently developed it into a full-length track which was performed live for the Glastonbury Emerging Talent 2023 competition — this new version will appear in the not-too-distant future on my planned fifth LP.

ABOUT

P. G. Warren is a British electronic music composer/producer and occasional designer of audio-related digital things, has been played on the BBC Radio 1 Rob da Bank and BBC 6 Music Stuart Maconie's Freak Zone shows, and was part of a BBC R&D team that recreated the early equipment of the BBC Radiophonic Workshop.

Inspired by Delia Derbyshire and the BBC Radiophonic Workshop at an early age, Warren spent his teens making lo-fi industrial music with the help of effects units, tape recorders and MacGyvered electronics, honing his signature style of atmospheric ambience, corroded synthesizers and murky drum machines.

He went on to make a living combining his love of sound and design which eventually lead him to the BBC. During his time in BBC R&D he was part of a team engineering online recreations of the original BBC Radiophonic Workshop equipment, which was showcased at the Ether Festival by invitation of Matthew Herbert.

Re-energised, Warren began producing new works of atmospheric, beat-driven, time-worn electronica using an iPhone on his daily commute. The resulting self-released Ghost Station album was well received. A follow-up, Echo Chambers, continued the trajectory into darker territory.

In 2021 an album called How We Lived was released on cassette by the respected
Castles in Space label and quickly became a featured best-seller on the Bandcamp homepage. A new LP is in the works.

Warren continues to push his sound forwards while being inspired by electronic music pioneers from across the decades.

LIVE

After a few performances earlier in 2023 I have been taking a break from playing live to finish my latest LP. I will be rehearsing for further live performances later in the year. Please get in touch if you’d like to discuss a live appearance, thanks!
